Think Before You Flush: The Hidden Costs of Flushing Wipes
Flushing wipes—even those labeled "flushable"—can severely damage sewer systems, including your household plumbing. Unlike toilet paper, wipes don’t break down easily, leading to blockages that often mix with grease to form massive clogs. These cause overflows which cause environmental harm, as well as equipment damage and costly repairs. Proper disposal of wipes (in the trash) allow sewer systems to run more efficiently—with fewer clogs, reduced maintenance costs, and extended equipment life which lower expenses and free up funds for long-term infrastructure improvements instead of avoidable repairs.

Hartwood Pump Station wet well float wrapped in wipes.
